FAQ
What travelers ask us most.
Hours and locations
What are your hours?
Ahijados Autopista: every day, 7 am to 9 pm. General Bravo: every day, 7 am to 10 pm.
How long has Los Ahijados been around?
Since 1987. We started in General Bravo as a taco stand run by the Cantú Fernández family. The highway stop at km 98.5 opened in 1995.
Is there a gas station at the General Bravo location?
No. General Bravo is a restaurant only. The gas station, Circle K store, public restrooms and Tesla chargers are at Ahijados Autopista, on the Cadereyta–Reynosa highway.
Can I order food to go?
Yes. Call the restaurant and pick up your order: highway (823) 234 0080; General Bravo (823) 234 0440 or (823) 234 0238. From the US, dial +52 before the number.
On the road: Tesla, trucks and services
How many Tesla chargers are there?
There are 6 Tesla Superchargers, up to 150 kW, at Ahijados Autopista, available 24 hours a day. They're a few steps from the restaurant.
Is there parking for trucks and RVs?
Yes. Ahijados Autopista has plenty of parking for trucks and RVs, plus public restrooms, gas, a store and the restaurant.
Are there public restrooms?
Yes, at Ahijados Autopista.
US/Canada insurance
Can I buy insurance to drive into the US or Canada?
Yes. Get a quote online from our US/Canada insurance page or ask at the insurance counter inside Ahijados Autopista.
Can I insure a trailer?
Yes, as long as the car or pickup towing it is insured too.
Do you sell insurance for trucks or freight?
No. We only sell tourist policies for personal travel by car or pickup. For a semi-truck or freight you need commercial insurance from a specialized agent.
Does my Mexican auto insurance cover me in the US?
Usually not: many policies only cover you inside Mexico. Check with your insurer. The US and Canada require liability insurance to drive.
How long does the policy last?
You buy it by the day and only pay for the dates of your trip.
What do I need to get a quote?
Your vehicle details and a valid driver's license; an expired license can't be used. The online quote takes a few minutes from your phone.
Is Los Ahijados the insurance company?
No. The policies we sell are from National Unity Insurance Company, an insurer based in San Antonio, Texas, which issues and manages your policy. Review the terms before you pay.
Mexican tax invoices
How do I get a Mexican tax invoice (CFDI) for gas?
Use the gas station's invoicing portal. You'll need your receipt: it asks for the station, folio and Web ID from your receipt.
How do I get an invoice for my restaurant bill?
If you ate at Ahijados Autopista, open its portal and enter the number printed below the barcode on your receipt. Your invoice lists each item exactly as it was charged; the system can't issue it as a single “food consumption” item. If you're only invoicing part of your bill, ask for that part to be charged separately when you pay.
How long do I have to request an invoice?
Until the end of the month of your purchase. For example, a receipt from October 28 must be invoiced by October 31.
Can I get an invoice for purchases at the Circle K store?
Circle K purchases can't be invoiced online yet. Ask for your invoice at the store's register or email administracion@losahijados.com.mx with a photo of your receipt and your RFC.
Can I get an invoice at the General Bravo location?
General Bravo doesn't invoice online. Ask for your invoice at the register when you pay.
The invoicing portal won't load. What should I do?
Try from another network, for example your phone's mobile data instead of your office internet. If it still won't load, email administracion@losahijados.com.mx with a photo of your receipt and your RFC, or call us at (823) 234 0080, and we'll help.
